Medicaid managed care is more than just health care – it’s an investment in the very future of Texas.
Going back to school can be an exciting time for children, but it can also be stressful for parents because of the financial burden that comes along with it. Buying school supplies, backpacks, and clothing for kids can get expensive for families, especially those who require assistance from Medicaid in order to cover their children’s healthcare needs.
That’s why BlueCross BlueShield of Texas went to Austin on August 1 to give away over 200 backpacks to Medicaid members and members of the community in need of critical school supplies.
“We have many resources that we want our families to walk away with – like the importance of being up to date on immunizations and health checks. And then the exciting part is that the kids walk away with a backpack, so they can start their school year this year with a new backpack and school supplies.” – Sandy Martinez Nava, Supervisor of Community Outreach, BCBSTX
With Medicaid covering half of babies born in Texas, Medicaid is making a critical investment in our next generation of Texans – children who will grow up to be teachers, moms and dads, scientists, and more.
Medicaid managed care is more than just health care – it’s an investment in the very future of Texas. It’s an investment in health and well-being that goes beyond the doctor’s office—it helps young Texans stay healthy and active so they can focus more time on school.
